Flash Update

I received my wireless receiver, and stand for my Flash.  I'm still waiting for the umbrella, which will soften things up.  For the time being I have board on the flash that bounces the light.  Works out pretty well.



I don't have a studio at my place yet.  I took this picture in the late afternoon - still some light out, but it was getting dark.  I shot at a very low iso with with as high of a shutter speed I could get without being quicker then the flash itself.  By doing this I achieved the black out look.  I had the flash above my son coming from his left side.  That created the shadow on his right side.  There was very little to almost no post processing done on the computer.  This is basically how the shot came out right on the camera!

You wouldn't have guessed this was done at the end of a driveway.  I hope you enjoy, and look for more to come!

Looking forward to some flash photography.

Today I ordered my wireless flash trigger, tripod mount, and soft white umbrella.  Pretty soon I'll be taking pictures with the flash being softened or reflected onto the subject.  I'll also be able to have the flash behind the subject or at any angle to add shadow and depth..  There is so much you can do with this combination.  I would keep your eyes out for my posts.  I may be looking to do a free shoot to try out some flash techniques and angles.  :-)
